Castaway Wanderers Rugby Football Club is extremely happy to announce the club's coaching team for the coming season. The coaching team is a highly accredited, well respected, dynamic group of men who bring past National Representative honors as players, coaches and officials to the table, to benefit those players who will come under their direction and tutelege. The model befits the need to cover expansive areas of the modern game, a task many are recognizing to be almost impossible for one person to handle. With the implementation of this group of coaches, CW is seeeking to return to the pinnacle of BCRU competition.
The coaching team will consist of Spencer Robinson (Player with Rugby Canada VII's and Canada 'A'; Coach of Canada Mens and Womens VII's teams); Chris May (Captain of Pacific Pride Development Team and Co-Coach of Vancouver Reps; Physiotherapist with Rugby Canada Mens VII's); Lee Lindwall ( Rugby League player - Australia; YDO/Technical Director Saskatchewan R.U., Asst Coach Prairie Fire, Coach CWRFC 2007-10) and Ian Hydelay ( Rugby Canada XV's [3 caps and RWC, 1987]; Canada Referee Panel 1991-2003; 17 Test matches RWC 1999 and RWC VII's - 1997 and 2001; Co-Coach of Canada West [NA4], Rugby Canada U20's - 2008/09). Roger Robinson and Noah Molia will continue to work in their capacity with First Division players as well. Additional biographical information can be read under Players (main menu bar).
To add to this exciting announcement we have the return of last year's Captain, Ken Goodland and experienced players such as Ander Monro and Nanyak Dala (currently contracted to Rugby Canada), Paul and Matt Buckley and Seamus Gay already confirmed. DESPITE LOSS ON FIELD CW MAKES HAY!

The Premiers played a very good Capilano team to a standstill last Saturday, only to be nipped out 16 - 20, in John Graf's "hurrah" match. The full game report can be read under Recent Results on this site. Despite not being able to move on to the Playoffs, the contribution that was made to the National Senior Women's Team from the day's event and following evening social at DSC was substantial, in the vicinity of $4000. CW thanks all those who generously contributed to this cause, especially the anonymous donor whose personal effort was $500! Go, Canada, go!
A TRIBUTE TO 'SKINS'

JOHN GRAF - A TRIBUTE
After graduating from Donn Spence's UBC Rugby Factory, John David Graf (aka ' SKINS '), was plucked from the Raven by Rugby Canada in 1989 for a match against Ireland, played at UVic. This was the start of a long and illustrious career of ten years of service, featuring 54 caps and scoring 99 points - sixth in all time appearances for Canada and sixth on the points ladder for his country.
John's three RWC appearances (1991, 1995, 1999), were bookended by victories in 1991 over Rumania and Namibia in 1999. He played in the Invictus RWC, including the infamous Battle of Boet Erasmus against the Springboks. John had two overseas club stints during his career - in France and at Bridgend, Wales.
Perhaps his finest selections with Canada were in 1996 when he captained the team in six tests, with their only loss being to the Wallabies in Brisbane. From 1997 - 1999, John played in 23 of Canada's 27 matches, leading the side on seven occasions. He also played in the inaugural VII's RWC in 1993 at Murrayfield where he scored 66 points for Canada.
This Saturday, no matter what your club loyalties, will be the day when we honor a great Canadian rugby man and reflect on his achievements.
BEST OF LUCK, SKINS - THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES.
